The rules are ordinary chess, with one addition you cannot capture. Every move you make brings your snail closer to their king, so the game also becomes a race, and a question of how to wall in something immortal.

How it plays

  1. A snail each. Nothing can take it. After each of your moves it crawls a square at their king.
  2. Read the road. The dashed square is its next step; the number, crawls left to the king.
  3. Win. Checkmate, or let your snail reach their king. Block theirs, or run.

The details

Round, not through
It goes along ranks and files, never corners, round anything in the way. Walled off, it waits by the wall for a gap.
Plain chess
No power-ups and no cards. Castling, en passant and checkmate are as ever.
