Forget the king: there is a vault at each end of the board. Attack or guard, with thirty rounds to decide it, and no stopping beside your own vault unless you are taking a raider.

How it plays

1. Goal. Take their vault from 25 to 0 before they take yours.
2. Strike. A piece that could capture on their vault hits it. Closer hits harder.
3. Doorstep. Never stop beside your own vault, except to take a raider.

The details

Damage

From next to it 3, a knight’s jump 2, two squares down a line 1. Further out does not reach, and the piece stays put.

Your hero

Every piece moves as in chess; your hero leaps like a knight or a king and slides two on the diagonal.

Aegis

Four hits or captures charge it. It shields your hero and every piece of yours around it for two of their turns.

The race

30 rounds, six seconds a move: at the bell the one with more left wins. Level? Overtime opens the doors: the first hit wins, and nobody may take on their own doorstep.
